Architect's point of view
This project is a development of a design that Martin Francis undertook as an exercise in designing the type of vessel he would like to build for himself.
The hull is relatively long and easily driven with a fine entry, plumb bow and slender bulb.
The accommodation is basically that required for a family of four with a couple of guests.
The crew is envisaged as a couple and is more akin to the arrangement found on sailing vessels with high owner participation in the running of the vessel.
All the living spaces are on main deck and top deck with an emphasis on outside living and easy transition between inside and out. Wide side decks and a short superstructure relative to hull length, means that the total accommodation is more akin to that normally found on a typical motor yacht five meters shorter.
Likewise the build cost of the vessel should be that of a shorter vessel.
This design philosophy is one that the Francis studio incorporates in many of its most well known projects.
The external styling comprises simple angular forms with large overhangs for sun protection. It is unashamedly architectural in aspect which the designers feel is appropriate for the beach house lifestyle envisaged for cruising envisaged for the owners of this vessel.
